General information

The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" is one of the oldest and biggest subdivisions of the university. History of the faculty began in 1943 starting with the formation of Chimkent institute of construction materials. Nowadays the priority direction in the sphere of high education is the development of technical education for providing domestic economy with young qualified specialists. In this connection the most significant importance is paid to the training of highly skilled bachelors for dynamic developing manufacturings of chemical, biotechnological, metallurgical, constructional, oil-and-gas and other branches of the industry.

These days,  In Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" have 24 doctors of science, 72 candidate of science, 6 PhD doctors and 42 master of  science.

In 2008 several educational programs passed the international accreditation in the ASIIN agency. They are: Chemical technology of inorganic substances, Chemical technology of organic substances, Chemical technology of refractory non-metallic and silicate materials, Chemistry, Ecology, Biotechnology. Ecology department carries out training of candidates for a master's degree in collaboration with Hamburg University of the applied sciences (Germany).

Academic process is organized on the modern educational technologies according to the requirements of state educational standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For training of students on the credit technology the Higher school systematically conducts the work on supplementation of fund of methodical-education literature, introduction of new methods of training, informatization and computer application in academic process. All departments have computer classes with Internet access.

Students’ life

The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" is not only forge of Cheerful and resourceful leaders (“Texas”, “Multfilm”, “Shymkala” and others), but also of debate clubs. Leaders of the debate club «Zhangirik» Zhunisov D., Esenaliev Zh., Seidazimova A. were repeatedly appear, were winners of republic debate competitions.

The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" works in close connection with the student Assembly, Alliance of students of Kazakhstan, youth wing of political party “Zhas Otan”, regional staff of ecological division “Zhasyl el”.

325 student of the faculty are engaged in different sections of the faculty of social professions.

Tutorial work of the Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology"

There are studied 898 students at The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology"? From them on the basis of state educational grants – 499, on the commercial basis – 400 students. At the beginning of each academic year by the dictation of the Dean are assigned professors in charge of a student groups, groups leaders. On 2017/2018 academic year there are totally 75 academic groups. Also by the dictation of Dean of The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" are assigned senior curator of Higher school and senior curators of departments. Senior curator of the The Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" Estauova Akmaral. Furthermore, the staff and plan of Council of curators of the Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" are considered and approved. Dean of the Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" Bolysbek  A.A. is a head of Council of curators.

At the chemical-technological faculty actively works student’s self-administration, students’ Council. Dean of Student in the Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology"is a student of HT-15-5k2 Sadygaliev Raxmatulla

Tutorial work at the Higher School of "Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology" is carried out on high professional level according to basic nine directions:

Also there are 11 scientific-research clubs at the higher school, which actively involve students into scientific-research work. Students, engaged in these clubs, participate in the international and republic conferences, being multiple winners of these conferences.

Teaching of students in English language

         Experiment on the teaching in English was started in the High School of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology in 2004, when students of the 2nd course of such specialties as 050720 – Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances and 050731 – Life Safety and Environmental Protection became to be taught in English.Since 2006, the teaching of students in English began from the first year in the majority of specialties of the High School. Students of English groups perform and defend their theses and projects in English. Currently, students of 7 specialties and specializations in all courses are taught in English. At that, selection of students for special groups is carried out based on the test results, conducted in the beginning of each academic year by teachers of “Foreign Language for Technical Specialties” chair and Linguistic Center. In the first year, students study in English such general subjects as Chemistry, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Physics, Analytical Chemistry and Informatics. On the average 60% of the disciplines are studied by students in English. The coverage of training in English by special disciplines of the 3rd course is 80%, of the 4th course is 90%. Teachers who know English at high enough level (completed courses, having certificate or teaching experience in English, and also have basic higher education in English) are involved in the educational process for teaching the disciplines in English. To improve the level of language proficiency, teachers continue to learn English to get Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate levels at the courses of the University’s Linguistic Center. Students who study in English groups show high performance – almost all these students study on the grant and pass the sessions on “good” and “excellent” grades. The majority of students of English groups of the 3-4 courses are actively engaged in research activities, they are regular participants and winners of student’s scientific conferences. Students of English groups participated in the final stage of international accreditation of four specialties of our university, carried out by the German agency ASIIN. During presentation of their scientific works and discussions with experts, our students showed both excellent knowledge of English, and deep knowledge of the disciplines studied and interest in carrying out scientific researches. All disciplines taught in English are provided with teaching and methodological complexes, i.e. with all necessary materials for teaching students. The educational and information center of the University has training literature in English on the majority of general educational disciplines – general, inorganic, organic, analytical and physical chemistry, physics, computer science. There are also textbooks on special disciplines such as “Crystallography and Mineralogy”, “Chemical Technology of Solids”, “Ecology”, “Ecological Problems of the Industry”, “Quantum Chemistry” and others. To ensure the full provision of all disciplines with educational and methodical literature, teachers who conduct lessons in English are engaged in preparation and publication of methodological aids, primarily methodological instructions, for all types of lessons. In general, for the period of teaching disciplines in English, from 2004 to 2017, the teachers published 102 works, including 20 textbooks, 40 teaching aids and 62 methodical instructions.
